Tierra Astronomical Institute (TAI) was incorporated in 1980 as a non-profit organization with a mission to provide the fundamental tools and resources for public education and research in astronomy. One major goal was to fill a niche in astronomical education by making quality astronomical lab resources available to students, educators and researchers, who otherwise might not have such access, to perform advanced labs and basic research in astronomy.
